1. Who we are
This site, joselazoflores.com, is operated by Jose Lazo-Flores as an individual sole trader, based in Zurich, Switzerland. For any matter relating to your personal data, you can reach us at jose.lazo.flores.1@gmail.com.
When client work is invoiced through third-party platforms (Malt, Upwork) or umbrella employers (Helvetic Payroll, Sallis), those intermediaries handle the commercial relationship only — they do not have access to data collected on joselazoflores.com or to your conversations with the Discovery Assistant.
2. What this policy covers
This policy describes how we handle personal data when you visit joselazoflores.com or interact with the AI Discovery Assistant embedded on the /consulting page.
The Discovery Assistant is provided by Augself (augself.ai), which is also operated by Jose Lazo-Flores. Conversations with the assistant are processed by Augself on our behalf.
3. Data we collect
3.1 Automatically when you visit the site
- Server logs: standard request metadata (IP address, browser user-agent string, page visited, timestamp). Used only for diagnostics and security.
- Cookies / local storage: see § 7 below.
3.2 When you chat with the Discovery Assistant
The assistant is an AI chatbot designed to help us understand your project before a first call. When you use it, we collect:
- The full text of your conversation with the assistant.
- Your IP address and browser user-agent, recorded against the conversation.
- Any personal or company information you choose to share — typically your name, email, company name, role, industry, country, budget signals, and timeline. You decide what to share.
- A structured summary the assistant generates at the end of each conversation, which is emailed to Jose.
You are interacting with an AI, not a human. The assistant will identify itself as such if asked. You can stop the conversation at any time, and you are not obliged to share any specific information.
3.3 When you contact us directly
If you email, message, or otherwise contact us outside the chatbot, we receive the information you choose to send (name, email, message contents).
4. How we use your data
- To respond to your inquiry — either by Jose directly or via the Discovery Assistant.
- To prepare for follow-up conversations and proposals if you appear to be a potential client.
- To improve the Discovery Assistant’s responses, on an aggregated basis. We do not train any third-party AI model on your conversation content (see § 5 below).
- To keep records for legitimate business and accounting purposes.
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for behavioural ad targeting.
5. Third-party processors and services
The following third parties receive data when you visit joselazoflores.com. Each is listed with its purpose and the kind of data it sees:

Transfers of personal data outside Switzerland/EU are covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
The Augself backend itself is operated by Jose Lazo-Flores; it is listed separately above only because it is hosted on Railway.
6. Storage and retention
- Chat conversations and Discovery summaries are stored in Augself’s Postgres database for as long as we may reasonably need them for follow-up or accounting (typically up to 24 months).
- Email correspondence is retained for 5 years for business-record purposes.
- Server logs are retained for 30 days unless a security incident requires longer retention.
You can request earlier deletion at any time (§ 8).
7. Cookies, local storage, and tracking
joselazoflores.com itself does not deploy advertising or marketing trackers. We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Segment, or Amplitude. We do not have a cookie-consent banner.
That said, the following cookies and storage items are set when you visit:
- Clicky analytics (
clicky.com) sets first-party cookies under joselazoflores.com (e.g.,_jsuid,cluid,clv) to count visitors and recognize returning visits. Clicky’s privacy policy: clicky.com/terms. - Calendly (
calendly.com) sets its own cookies (e.g.,__cf_bmvia Cloudflare) when the booking widget loads on the/consultingpage. Governed by calendly.com/privacy. - Hugging Face (
huggingface.co) may set cookies inside the iframe embeds in the Projects section of the homepage. Governed by huggingface.co/privacy. - The Augself Discovery Assistant uses browser local storage on augself.ai’s origin (not cookies) to remember your conversation across page reloads on the same device. This data stays in your browser unless you send a message.
If you prefer not to accept these cookies you can:
- Block third-party cookies in your browser (Calendly, Hugging Face iframes affected)
- Block first-party cookies on joselazoflores.com (Clicky affected)
- Block scripts from clicky.com, assets.calendly.com, or huggingface.co at the browser/extension level
These steps may break the corresponding features (you would not be able to book through the embedded Calendly widget, for example), but the rest of the site continues to work.
8. Your rights
Under Swiss nFADP and (if you are in the EU/EEA) GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate data;
- Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”);
- Restrict or object to specific processing;
- Receive a portable copy of your data;
- Lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, edoeb.admin.ch) or, in the EU, your local supervisory authority.

9. Children
Our services are intended for business users. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: encrypted connections (TLS) between your browser and our servers and between all sub-processors, scoped database access, and credential rotation. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page indicates the current version. Material changes will be announced on the homepage or via email if we have your contact details.
